- POETS - Many of Kurt's art songs have been drawn from the words of Nate Hoks, Kurt's longtime friend from Illinois. Watch this page for more info on Nate, Chris Hund and other poet-friends as they take over.... Nathan Hoks was born in Colorado in 1977, and has spent the majority of his life in the Chicago area. For the 2000-2001 school year he served as a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in Lille, France. He holds a BA in English and French from Loyola University Chicago, and is currently working toward his MFA at the University of Iowa's Writers' Workshop. His poetry may be found in the Summer 2002 issue of The Adirondack Review and is forthcoming in the Fall 2002 issue of Crazyhorse. Recent awards include a Teaching Writing Fellowship from the University of Iowa and the Crazyhorse Poetry Prize. Contact: nshoks@yahoo.com * * * Chris Hund is a poet from the Midwest. He has an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop and a BA from Loyola University Chicago. Currently he is putting the finishing touches on his first book length manuscript of poems. The poems are primarily influenced by Surrealism and the New York School. However, the influences of older poetics are often also present. The poems evoke a sense of travel, a sense of journey, even if they stay focused in on one moment or object. They are funny, but in a way that makes the humor deadly serious and funny at the same time. Have a good day. Contact: chrishund1@yahoo.com
